platini.jpgWhen Michel Platini was voted in as head of UEFA, I knew it was bad news for us. The greasy haired arrogant fuck hates Liverpool, and given how UEFA on the whole is generally seen as being corrupt and rotten to the core, it shouldn’t come as any surprise to read accusations from them that Liverpool fans are the worst behaved in Europe. When it comes to protecting their own skins and shifting the balme onto others, UEFA are in a league of their own. The comments I read today from media whore William Gaylord (that guy is on Skysportsnews even more than most of the presenters) were highly predictable, and scandalously inaccurate.

I’m not even going dignify the comments by offering a defence. I don’t need to, you only have to speak to fans of the teams we’ve faced in Europe in recent

years and ask them what they think of Liverpool fans. The behaviour of some of our support in Athens was completely unacceptable, and you know what, we’re all acknowledging that. No-one has denied that some morons stormed the gates, and no-one is defending their actions. If we’re in the wrong, we say so. Unlike UEFA, who merely absolve themselves of any wrongdoing and point the finger of blame at the easiest target, usually English football fans, and quite often Liverpool.

UEFA couldn’t organsise a piss up in a brewery. Never have been able to, probably never will be able to. Liverpool fans took the bulk of the blame for what happened at Heysel, whilst UEFA refused to accept any responsibility whatsoever, despite the fact they chose to stage the game in a stadium that was totally unfit for the occasion. Whatsmore, Liverpool officials had told them in advance of the dangers and what could potentially happen, but they chose to ignoreit.

Fast forward 22 years to Athens, and nothing has changed. UEFA pick a stadium that doesn’t even have any turnstiles to host the biggest event in club football. Liverpool inform them weeks before the end about potential problems with forged tickets, yet once more the warnings went unheeded. The whole organisation of it was a joke, and although a minority of so called Liverpool fans made the situation worse, it’s typical of UEFA to try and shift all of the blame away from their own door.

It was no surprise that the News of the World jumped all over this story, and although many people will know that it’s a pack of lies, realistically the average NOTW reader isn’t intelligent enough to know the truth from a hole in their arse. Much of the British public believe what the papers tell them, especially if it’s re-enforcing a negative stereotype they already have in their narrow little minds. Look at the way some people still thinkHillsborough was our fault because they read it in the papers. Mud sticks, and UEFA are experts at throwing it.

I’ve hammered Rick Parry on this blog in recent weeks, but here is a chance for him to redeem himself a little. He should come out all guns blazing against UEFA to fight our corner. None of this diplomatic crap, just tell it like it is Rick. Tell people how Platini hates Liverpool and voted against us being allowed to defend our trophy in 2005 (and tell them the reason he gave why). Tell the world that UEFA’s allegations about us being the worst fans in Europe are totally inaccurate and just a way of deflecting attention away from their own negligence.

Our good reputation has been scandalously called into question today, by people who have no right to be pointing the finger of blame anywhere other than at their own front door. Someone needs to fight our corner, and seeing as how Parry has a lot of making up to do, it should be him. Come onRick, this is a chance for you to try and get back in the good books a little. I’m not going to hold my breath mind, but you never know, he could surprise us and do the right thing for once.

Right now, I’m all for boycotting the Champions League qualifier. Liverpool screwed us over tickets, and UEFA have tried to blame us for their own failings. Why not send out a message to them both that we wont put up with it anymore. Otherwise they’ll continue to treat us with contempt. I’m really starting to hate modern day football.
