What a week it’s been. First we’re told that our fans have 17000 tickets and then it turns out that it’s really just a fraction of this. 

This left the obvious question… where are the rest of the tickets? Out of curiosity, I decided to pick up the phone and phone a couple of travel agents.

Most of them were offering flights with tickets. The tickets turned out to be either in the neutral block or in the AC Milan side. I phoned Triangle Travel, the travel agent of choice for Liverpool FC and was told that I could try getting them off eBay or, failing that, turn up at the ground a day early and buy them there (from a tout, no doubt).

from a forumite that a travel agents in Dublin was offering the tickets as part of a package. To my amazement, they offered to book me in with nine friends in a block in the Liverpool end!

How are they able to offer ten tickets booked in a block like this?

TRAVEL: Sky Tours Travel, can you hold a moment please?
ME: OK.
(Cue dodgy hold music)
TRAVEL: Hello, can I help you?
ME: Hello, I’ve just got ten of us trying to get over to Athens for the Champions League Final, I was just wondering if you do any packages that would cater for us there?
TRAVEL: Yeah, I only have one that’s a two-night package and you’re lookingat two-thousand seven-hundred.
ME: 2700? Would we be able to get match tickets with that?
TRAVEL: Yeah, that’s match tickets in the Liverpool end.
ME: In the Liverpool end?
TRAVEL: Yeah.
ME: If there’s ten of us going, would we be able to get them in the same end… uh, in the same block?
TRAVEL: Yeah… you would, yeah, I can book them all together for you but you’d really need to be wanting to book them straight away, there’s not much left.
ME: That’s great, ok.
TRAVEL: I’ll give you my name, it’s Gillian and if you want to give me a ring back, I would need money up front so you would need to come into the office or credit card over the phone.
ME: Well that’s fine, I’m going to give the lads a ring now and I’m going to ring you back in about five minutes.
TRAVEL: There’s very little left, though, so if you ring me back, Gillian is my name andI’ll check out and see, and it should be ok, you should be all seated together it’s no problem.
ME: That’s fantastic. I’ve just been put through to you, can I just take your number again there, please?
TRAVEL: 8788200, Gillian is my name.
ME: Gillian, that’s fantastic. And is that Talbot Travel is it?
TRAVEL: It’s Sky Tours on Talbot Street, yeah.
ME: That’s great, I’ll give you a call back in five minutes.
TRAVEL: OK, no problem. Alright, bye.
ME: Thanks a lot, bye now.
