The Israel Football Association (IFA) has failed in its appeal to have two Uefa Cup ties involving its clubs Hapoel Tel Aviv and Bnei Yehuda played on home turf.
The Court for Arbitration in Sport yesterday upheld Uefa’s decision to switch the club’s home legs to neutral venues for security reasons.
‘In view of the circumstances there is no room to grant the requested injunction which would cancel Uefa’s decision,’
said an IFA statement.
The ruling should mean that an Uefa executive that meets thsi week will also order Maccabi Haifa to switch the second leg of their Champions League third qualifying round tie with Liverpool, on August 22 or 23, to a neutral venue
