Liverpool have injury doubts over Fabio Aurélio and Luis García before next week’s Champions League third qualifying round first leg at home to Maccabi Haifa .

Aurélio, the left back who joined on a free transfer from Valencia this summer, damaged his calf, while García, the Spain forward, injured his neck during the 3-2 friendly defeat by 1FC Kaiserslautern in Liechtenstein on Saturday. Initial assessments showed Aurélio’s injury to be more serious than García’s, although both will undergo further tests today.

Liverpool will hear by Wednesday whether they have succeeded in having the second leg against Haifa on August 22 or 23 moved to a neutral venue after voicing concerns about playing the game in Israel.
