The boss has told Real Madrid, in no uncertain terms that their bid for Xabi Alonso is of no interest to the club.

Aparently, Real offered £17 million for the Spanish international and, being Real Madrid, assumed that Liverpool would capitulate.
Rafa Benitez won't consider selling midfielder Xabi Alonso to anybody.
Despite a very respectable offer yesterday, Real sports director Predrag Mijatovic was informed by Benitez via telephone:
"I cannot consider losing Xabi."
It was earlier speculated that a deal could have been struck if Real had players available in exchange that Benitez was interested in, that's what brought Rafa to the table in the first place. But there's no-one Mijatovic can offer to convince Benitez to part with his midfield schemer.
