Liverpool to land long term target?

I first heard that Liverpool were interested in Benfica's Portugal international, Simoa Sabrosa, last summer and he was rumour to be at the top of Rafa's hit list for the January window. But in December, the Portugese club suddenly raised their asking price to €10 mill. Liverpool quickly lost interest and went after Croatian winger Darijo Srna instead.

We regretted that in April, when the 26 year old Sabrosa smashed home a 30 yarder that helped put us out of the Champions League.

It appears that the boss is now ready to finally land the services of this long term target.

Why? Because of a comment made by the Benfica President, Luis Vierira yesterday. Vieira said:

"We have already received several offers for other Benfica players, but only one of our players will be able to leave the club and that is Simao."

Although I've been saying for months that Daniel Alves should be our key target for the summer, Simoa Sabrosa, could just be that 'world class attacking player' that we've been looking for. I'd be far less nervous by his purchase than I currently am with craig Bellamy.
