Anybody who's looked at this blog over the last few months will realise that we're on a personal campaign to get Daniel Alves to Liverpool.

He's the best right back in Europe at the moment and he's only 23. He tore a big hole on 'boro's attack in the UEFA Cup final, which was no surprise to anyone in Spain, where he's been a Seville stalwart for 4 years.
There's have been a few scuffles and more than enough drama on the way, but it's looking like its almost there now. So, apart from the confetti, he'll be at Anfield by the end of the month.
I was more than pleased when I found out that Seville have already purchased a replacement for Alves, having just bought Andreas Hinkel, from VfB Stuttgart for €4 mill. - and you don't spend that kind of money if you don't have to (unless you're Chelsea).
My guess is that they were reluctant to let such a valuable player go without some insurance, which would imply that apart from haggling over €3 mill. or so, the Alves to Liverpool deal is as good as done.
Rejoice, my fellow Kopites. With Carra and Alves in the team, our flanks are covered as well as any club in the world.
Having said that, I get a little nervous when I read stuff like this on Soccernet, last week:
UEFA Cup winners Sevilla claim they have turned down a new offer from Liverpool for defender Daniel Alves.
According to Sevilla president Jose Maria del Nido, Liverpool had an offer rejected but came back with a fresh proposal which was also dismissed.
The 23-year-old Brazilian right-back has spent four years with the Spanish club who are reluctant to let Alves leave.
'We are already talking big money but Sevilla don't want to lose the player,' said Del Nido.
'What happens when a player wants a change of scenery is that he can't force it.
'Daniel has let the sporting director know that the offer from Liverpool is the most important. But he has not put pressure on us and we don't have a highly strung relationship with him.'
Anyway, its all chests puffed up, and Seville are still smarting from their embarrassment over the Alves/Saviola fiasco with Barcelona. Suffice to say, I'm confident that well be seeing a new Brazilian superstar at Liverpool for the 2006/7 season.
