Like everybody else who reads this blog, I was happy to see Liverpool beat 2nd Division Trinidad & Tobago 2 - 0.

But the match left me with more questions than answers. For example, if you've got the 'best midfield in the world', why tell your keeper to keep twatting the ball 80 yards? If you're going to pick Gerrard, why not let him play?
But the biggest mystery for me is Peter Crouch. Is he any good? I'll accept that he's as good as we've got up front at Liverpool, but a season in which virtually no goals were scored, doesn't get you too excited about our attacking line.
I don't know what to think - I watched the game down the pub with the boys - a mixture of fans, only a few of which are Liverpool supporters and for 80 minutes we were embarrassed. If you can't do a bicycle kick - and Crouch must know that he can't - why try? Painful.
Having said that, England have a perfect record in this World Cup, so I might just be talking shit.
Anyway, here's what he had to say to The FA after the T&T game:
Peter Crouch says he is on a high after his sixth goal in five games put England into the second round of the World Cup.
Follow up:
Crouch's 83rd minute header was his first ever in a major tournament and proves he is now well and truly at home in international football.
The Liverpool striker said:
"It was a big moment for me, it’s great to score in a World Cup.
"I’m really enjoying it, I’m loving playing for England. With the creative players we have in the side you are always going to get chances and thankfully at the minute they are going in for me."
The goal was created by David Beckham's superb deep cross from the right, and Crouch believes he owes the England captain some thanks.
He said:
"David is the best in the world at delivering crosses, we all know that and everyone else can see that.
"It's a good result for us. We kept going to the end, that was the most important thing.
"Bringing on Wayne Rooney and Aaron Lennon gave us a boost because we needed fresh legs to run at them.
"Six points out of two games is perfect for us and now we are in the next round."
