Another hard earned three points on a weekend that always reminds us that football is not the most important thing in the world.
In an age when football and footballers mostly headline the sleazy sections of the tabloids, its always a sobering experience when the weekend nearest the 15th of April comes along and football comes along and helps us put the game into perspective.
All Liverpool players, past and present come together to ensure that the 96 are never forgotten. Blackburn too must be congratulated for immediately agreeing to re-arrange the fixture that was originally due to fall on the 15th itself – a day on which nobody connected with Liverpool Football Club would want to kick a ball around a field.

The game itself, much like the Bolton game was not exactly the greatest spectacle on earth, but another indication of how far we have progressed when it comes to grinding out results.
As I've said in previous reviews, these would have been draws at best in the not-too-distant past, especially when playing without Gerrard. So that’s two wins in our last two games we’ve played without our “one man” in a “one man team”.
After 23 minutes Liverpool had a very good claim for a penalty turned down when Morientes seemed to be blocked when turning smartly. It may have been a little harsh if it had been given but I’ve seen worse decisions claims go to the spot.
Luckily we didn’t have to wait too long. Six minutes later, Fowler scored. This was one of his own making as he cleverly chested the ball into Morientes' path. Nando showed great presence of mind as he drew Brad Friedel from his goal and laid the ball back into Fowler's path, which he neatly slotted home.
There was a smidgen of controversy about it, apparently some of the Blackburn players thought that Cisse should have been flagged off-side when he lifted his leg towards the ball. OK Cisse was clearlyoff side but surely being a good two inches from the ball as it passed under his lifted leg made him inactive! See I told you I’ve seen worse decisions made!

After that I thought we controlled the game pretty much and should have extended our lead when Cisse took a great through ball. His first touch wasn’t the greatest but he still got himself into a great position. As he shot it looked goalbound under Brad’s body, but the touch spooned it up onto the crossbar.
Meanwhile, in the car park, the Blackburn bus was sad
The second half saw a bit more pressure as Blackburn searched for an equaliser but in truth they didn’t trouble Pepe enough to spoil his 50th appearance for us.
So to sum up another hard earned win for us and one which can hopefully put us in a great frame of mind for the Chelsea game next week.
THE JENS LEHMANN 'TWAT OF THE WEEK' AWARD

It would be pretty easy to go for Fergie for his pathetic attempt to try to unsettle Chelsea in their progress to the title – too easy in fact plus the fact that if he wins it three times, he gets to keep it, so I ain’t giving him the award.
There was a chance that with us playing Blackburn, the 'Twat of the Week' would be connected with Blackburn and be Welsh. Well it is, but not hot-head, Robbie Savage. No, its Mark Hughes who takes this week’s title for what he did to Cisse just as half time approached.
A couple of years back, on this very ground, Cisse nearly lost his leg, let alone his career. On Sunday, he was carved in half by a disgusting tackle that should have earned Lucas Neill a straight red. Hughes saw fit to add insult to injury by gesturing for Cisse to get off his arse, as he apparently wasn’t touched. Clearly what he was trying to do was influence the referee’s reaction to the challenge – it worked as Neill was only shown a yellow.
If former players of the calibre of Hughes are cynical enough to cheat to influence decisions of officials then what chance do we have with the likes of Robben and Drogba?
So for that gesture – Mr Hughes you are Bendy's 'Twat of the Week'
