The weekend was all about Robbie. In his own words there have been times since he left Anfield (or was forced out by the Kings of Drudge) 5 years ago that he felt like giving it all up for good.

Languishing in City reserves 18 months ago being cheered on by both the man and his dog he probably thought his chance of breaking any new meaningful barriers had gone. Yet here is now moving ahead of the great Kenny Dalglish in our all time goal scoring list.
Apparently Kenny was a little peeved and with his own unique dry wit claimed he was sick that Robbie had been brought back and even suggested he wouldn’t be speaking to him from now on. Whilst it seems a little unlikely that he can go on and get anywhere near Rushie’s total I hope he’s done enough for the team (on and off the pitch) to warrant a new one or better still 2 year contract at the end of the season.

The Match
In the game itself we dominated the first half and it looked like once again the Midlands would provide us with a goal glut. 6 Minutes into the game Cisse rampaged down the right and gifted Robbie the sort of chance anyone could have put away – with the possible exception of Jermain Jenas.

Robbie’s goal rightly grabbed all the headlines but this game was hopefully a watershed game for Cisse. Whilst he doesn’t always look totally at home wide on the right and at times simply doesn’t look at all, this game was one of his best in a Liverpool shirt.

And his tireless work was rewarded when 'Man of the Match' Xabi Alonso picked the ball up deep inside his own half and drilled a sensational ball forward over the top of the home defence. Cisse anticipated well and moved to control the ball and rounded the keeper before stroking the ball into the unguarded net.
For someone who has apparently been a complete disaster 15 goals in a season where he has been in and out of the first 11 and playing out of position is not at all bad.

By half time the game was wrapped up. The Albion did improve considerably in the second half and with the introduction of the impressive Gera they had a couple of decent efforts on goal. But all in all we held out pretty easily.

THE JENS LEHMANN 'TWAT OF THE WEEK' AWARD

It was a looking like a pretty uneventful weekend on the Twat front. As readers will know (both of you) my particular dislike is the stupid foreign finger gesturing so I was looking for it keenly. But nothing, not even Chelsea, who in the last couple of months have produced more finger action than an Italian convent.
I waited for all the after match interviews and reports in the press waiting for some dick head comment from one of the 3 managerial amigos – but again nothing. Was Savage in Monday night’s game going to be my only hope?

Well it did come in the Monday night game but not from Mr Savage. Mr Dowd – are you on drugs? He rules out the first half Blackburn 'goal' when there was the slightest of touches on the keeper and then allows a second half goal to stand when the same keeper gets run over by a train. Add to that the decision to rule out for offside a clear Wigan goal and you’ve got a very very poor performance from the officials.

Everyone knows it’s a tough job but professional officials have to do better than this.
