What a week! after the disappointment of the defeat at Arsenal we’ve bounced back with 2 really great victories, and as importantly 8 goals. Rafa has confirmed he’s staying, Momo is back in training and we’ve even made the youth cup final for the first time in 10 years.

Let’s start with the Fulham game: With their away record this year you had to fancy our chances from the off, but as we all know its not that easy at times. The early Crouch miss got me thinking could we be on for another Birmingham game here – 89 minutes parked inside their box and fuck all to show for it.

Then when Robbie did get the ball in the back of the net my first reaction was to look to the linesman. Clearly there was no legitimate reason to rule the goal out but with Robbie’s luck the way it is at the moment you never know do you, one arm spasm from some dickhead with a flag and your back to square one.

However, when the ref turned announcing the goal would stand you could virtually see the pressure oozing out of the players – especially the strikers. From that point on there was more of a swagger, even when they equalised. Christ, even Morientes remembered where the goals was.

I think the score line flattered us a little, but after the run we’d had in front of goal, who cares. The only sour note was the fannying around at the end. Whilst the Fulham players went way over the top with their reaction I was a bit pissed off myself that we decided to play footsie with the corner flag with a minute or so left. The way we were playing by the end if we’d swung the ball into the box we’d have had a 6th goal to celebrate anyway.

So despite the sour ending it was a great win for us and should have given us all some confidence going up to Newcastle for the weekend.

Before signing off I’d like to announce this weeks “Jens Lehman Award” – or to give it its full title:

“The Jens Lehmann Twat of the Week Award”.

Each week this will be awarded to that special person who has made a significant contribution to the world of football – or any other field really as it’s my award to give out. As its week 1, I'm not going to get too specific and I'm going to award it to:

The FA

Or more specifically, the nameless pratt at the FA who decided it would be a good idea to spread all the quarter finals of the FA cup over the mid week from Monday to Thursday. Whilst I don’t give 2 shits about West Brom or Birmingham I do think they have a right to be a little peeved that West Ham put out a much weaker side this weekend to face relegation rivals Portsmouth. This isn’t West Ham’s fault, since they have put themselves well into the safety zone they quite understandably will be concentrating on Monday’s FA cup game. But in making the decision it did, the FA have, created this unneccessary situation.

Well done, your thoughtless display of twattism will be rewarded by Lehmann taking you daughter out for dinner.
